The supply of sugar through fair price ration shops in the state remains uncertain, with no clear update yet from the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department regarding its distribution for the current month.
Sources from ration dealers say that sugar allocated for April has still not been delivered to several ration shops, creating confusion among both dealers and beneficiaries. They also claim that the department has not yet collected payments for the current allotment, further raising doubts about whether the stock has been released at all.
Due to the lack of official communication, many dealers suspect that sugar stocks have not been dispatched to local warehouses. However, there has been no confirmation from the authorities so far.
As a result, consumers are repeatedly visiting ration shops but returning without their quota of sugar. Many are also struggling with high market prices, adding to their financial burden.
While the department continues to hold regular review meetings with senior officials and administrative heads, stakeholders say that clear updates on supply status are not reaching the ground level.
At present, there is still no official explanation for the delay or any confirmed timeline for when sugar distribution will resume in ration shops across the state.
