In a major success in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics, the Narcotics Control Bureau along with Tripura Police have seized around 80,000 Yaba tablets, with an estimated market value of nearly Rs 3 crore, from a stone-laden truck in the Jolaibari area of Tripura’s South District and also three persons have been detained in connection with the seizure.

Acting on a tip-off from a confidential source, a joint team comprising personnel NCB, Tripura Police of Baikhora Police Station and Jolaibari Outpost conducted a special operation in the area.

“During the operation, police intercepted and searched a stone-laden truck bearing registration number TR05H1813. A large quantity of Yaba tablets was recovered from the vehicle, following which three persons were detained from the spot”, said police sources.

Following the operation, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bapi Debbarma said that the police would continue their intensified campaign against narcotics and take strict action against those involved in the illegal drug trade.
