CM Urges TET Paper-I Aspirants to Call Off Protest, Assures Steps to Resolve Recruitment Issues

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has appealed to TET Paper-I qualified candidates protesting outside Shiksha Bhawan to withdraw their agitation, assuring them that the government is aware of their demands and is taking necessary steps to address the issue.

Responding to the ongoing protest, the Chief Minister urged the candidates to repose faith in the government and avoid continuing the agitation. He said the authorities were aware of the concerns raised by the aspirants and would take appropriate measures to resolve them. He also noted that the continued protest could cause inconvenience to both the public and the demonstrators.

The candidates have been staging a sit-in outside Shiksha Bhawan in Agartala since Thursday, demanding immediate recruitment and the issuance of appointment letters. The protest began during the Durga Puja festivities, as the aspirants intensified their demand for an early conclusion to the long-pending recruitment process.

The recruitment of TET Paper-I qualified candidates has reportedly been held up due to legal complications, with the matter currently pending before the Tripura High Court. Several cases concerning the correctness of answers in the examination have also contributed to the uncertainty surrounding the process.

In a recent development, the High Court directed the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), to award additional marks to certain candidates over a disputed answer in the final answer key. The order has reportedly created further complications for the recruitment process.

According to sources, nearly 3,000 candidates attempted the question in question. Any revision of marks in compliance with the court’s directive could necessitate a fresh assessment of the merit list, potentially requiring additional administrative procedures before recruitment can move forward.

Meanwhile, sources in the concerned department indicated that efforts were being made to resolve the outstanding issues as quickly as possible and facilitate the issuance of appointment letters.

The development comes shortly after the state government distributed appointment letters to candidates who qualified in TET Paper-II and STGT and were selected for graduate teacher posts at the secondary level. TET Paper-I, on the other hand, is intended for recruitment to teaching posts at the primary school level.

With the legal proceedings and related administrative issues yet to be resolved, the TET Paper-I qualified candidates continue to await their appointments. The immediate focus remains on whether the government can expedite the process and whether the Chief Minister’s appeal will lead to the withdrawal of the ongoing protest.
