Fear spread among residents of Lambu in Kamalpur after a large king cobra was spotted in a densely populated residential area, triggering concern among locals.
The sighting attracted a crowd of curious residents, who gathered near the location while keeping a safe distance from the highly venomous snake. Realising the potential danger, locals promptly alerted a trained snake rescue team.
The rescuers soon arrived at the spot and began a careful operation to capture the snake. After several minutes of cautious efforts, the team managed to secure the king cobra safely without any injuries or untoward incident.
Following the rescue, the snake was placed in safe custody and arrangements were made to release it in a suitable natural habitat away from human habitation.
The incident once again highlighted the possibility of wildlife entering residential areas located close to natural habitats. Rescue personnel urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid approaching snakes on their own.
They advised people to immediately contact trained snake rescuers or wildlife authorities if a snake is spotted, stressing that attempting to catch or handle venomous snakes without proper expertise could prove extremely dangerous.
