Kumari Puja Held at Dhaleswar Ramakrishna Mission on Maha Ashtami

Kumari Puja was performed with traditional religious rituals and devotion at Dhaleswar Ramakrishna Mission in Agartala on the auspicious occasion of Maha Ashtami. Thousands of devotees and visitors gathered at the mission premises to offer prayers and witness the sacred ceremony. Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee also attended the puja with his family.

The entire state is immersed in festive spirit as people celebrate Durga Puja with great enthusiasm and devotion. Following age-old traditions, Kumari Puja is organised at various places across the state on the holy occasion of Maha Ashtami. Continuing this tradition, the special worship of the divine feminine in the form of a young girl was performed at Dhaleswar Ramakrishna Mission.

According to the priest of the mission, this year, six-year-old Vedantika Chakraborty, daughter of Biswajit Chakraborty, a resident of College Tilla, was worshipped as the Kumari Maa. The puja and associated rituals were conducted in accordance with traditional scriptural practices.

Explaining the mythological significance of Kumari Puja, the priest said that its origin is associated with the legend of the demon Kolasura. According to the traditional account, when Kolasura took control of heaven and earth, the gods sought the help of Goddess Mahakali. Responding to their prayers, the Goddess appeared in the form of a young girl and defeated Kolasura. The tradition of Kumari Puja is believed to have originated from this divine episode.

After offering prayers at the mission, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee extended his heartfelt Maha Ashtami greetings and best wishes to the people of Tripura. He also prayed for the overall welfare and prosperity of the state and the country. Furthermore, he called upon everyone to work together towards building a developed and better Tripura.
