Anjana Bhowmik, who was serving as a manager with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in Agartala, died after a medical emergency aboard a flight from Agartala to Kolkata reportedly forced the aircraft to make an emergency landing at Dhaka Airport on Sunday.
According to sources, Bhowmik became critically ill during the flight, prompting an urgent diversion to Dhaka. Following the aircraft’s landing, she was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Sources said Bhowmik had been referred to Kolkata for further medical treatment from a private hospital in Agartala. She was originally from Guwahati and lived in the vicinity of Ramakrishna Mission there.
The incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the medical emergency and the reported aircraft door-related issue during the flight. Further details regarding the incident and the exact cause of her death were not immediately available.
