Repair and restoration work on the Manu River embankment in the Latiapur Gram Panchayat area under Gournagar RD Block of Unakoti district has run into a border-related hurdle, with a section of the work reportedly remaining incomplete following objections from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

State Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy visited the affected site on Friday to assess the situation and review the progress of the embankment work. He was accompanied by Tripura State Waqf Board Chairman Mobswar Ali, other public representatives and officials from the departments concerned.

During the inspection, the minister examined the condition of the embankment and took details from officials about the portion where repair work has been stalled. The reported objection from the BGB was also discussed during the visit.

The embankment is considered important for safeguarding nearby settlements from erosion and possible flooding, especially during the monsoon when the Manu River often swells and puts pressure on its banks.

Minister Roy directed the officials to examine the issue carefully and explore ways to resolve the border-related complications so that the pending work can be completed without further delay.

Officials are expected to coordinate with the appropriate authorities and agencies to address the matter. Efforts are also likely to focus on ensuring that essential embankment protection measures resume at the earliest, keeping the safety of residents in the area in mind.
