After nearly three months, the donation boxes at the revered Tripura Sundari Temple were opened on Monday morning for counting amid tight security and administrative supervision.

A total of 16 donation chests and boxes installed across the temple premises were unlocked, with the counting process continuing throughout the day until evening. To ensure transparency and smooth management, the Gomati district administration deployed a special 16-member team for the task.

According to officials, the donation boxes contained a large amount of Indian currency along with foreign currencies from several countries. Among the recovered notes and coins were US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepali currency, and Bangladeshi Taka, reflecting the increasing popularity of the temple among international devotees and tourists.

Despite intermittent rainfall causing minor interruptions, the counting process continued under strict security arrangements. Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chattopadhyay stated that the counting work was expected to conclude between 8 pm and 9 pm.

Temple authorities informed that the donations collected would be used for various developmental activities, including temple renovation and maintenance, conducting religious rituals and festivals, and improving facilities for devotees.

An emotional moment during the counting process touched everyone present when CRPF jawan Buddhadeb Das donated his entire first month’s salary of Rs 33,310 at the feet of Goddess Tripura Sundari as a mark of devotion. His heartfelt gesture drew admiration from devotees and officials alike.

The massive volume of donations once again highlighted the deep faith and devotion of pilgrims visiting the temple from different parts of India and abroad, reaffirming the widespread reverence for Goddess Tripura Sundari.
