The Government of Tripura’s General Administration (Administrative Reforms) Department has issued a fresh memorandum introducing austerity steps aimed at reducing government expenditure and improving resource efficiency.
The decision follows a recent appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encouraging institutions and citizens to conserve fuel and adopt work-from-home practices wherever possible.
Under the new directive, Heads of Departments (HoDs) have been instructed to ensure that only 50 per cent of Group C and Group D employees attend office each day, while the remaining half will perform duties from home in a structured rotation system.
HoDs have also been directed to prepare a weekly duty roster, ensuring employees alternate between office attendance and work-from-home arrangements. For the initial week, preference should be given to staff residing closer to their respective offices to ease logistics.
Employees working remotely must remain accessible throughout working hours through telephone and digital communication channels and may be required to report to office if urgency demands.
The order further recommends that similar arrangements be implemented across PSUs, local bodies, autonomous bodies, statutory organisations, and all subordinate offices under the state government.
However, the directive will not apply to personnel engaged in essential and emergency services.
Issued by Special Secretary A.K. Bhattacharya, the order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain applicable until further notice.
