Senior IPS officer Princee Rani has been directed to assume charge as Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier, a move that has attracted significant attention within administrative and security circles. Her posting has also been widely discussed as it comes shortly after her husband, senior IAS officer Prashant Kumar Goyal, returned to Tripura from central deputation.

A 2005-batch IPS officer of the Tripura cadre, Princee Rani will now head the strategically important BSF Tripura Frontier. The assignment was issued soon after her husband resumed duties in the state administration. Goyal is currently serving as Secretary in the Public Works Department (excluding DWS) as well as the Finance Department (excluding Small Savings, GI & IF) in the Tripura government.

Her return to a key security role in the state has added to ongoing discussions within bureaucratic circles, especially given the timing of both postings involving the couple.

Princee Rani is regarded as an experienced police officer with a strong record in both administrative and internal security roles. Prior to her deputation to the BSF, she held important positions in Tripura Police and at the national level. She previously served as Inspector General (Administration) in Tripura Police and as Deputy Inspector General (Traffic).

She later joined the National Security Guard (NSG), where she served as an Inspector General. Over the course of her career, she has been recognized for her service, including being awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service for her contributions to policing and national security.

Officials note that her extensive experience in Tripura’s policing system and familiarity with border-related challenges are expected to strengthen coordination between the BSF and state law enforcement agencies.
