A wave of dissatisfaction has spread among residents of Rajnagar Gram Panchayat under the Bogafa Block after the panchayat office was found locked even after 1 PM on Tuesday.
Locals have strongly criticized the situation, questioning the efficiency of public service delivery and asking whether the office is being run as a government institution or a private establishment.
Residents allege that this is not an isolated incident but a recurring problem. According to them, the Rajnagar Panchayat office frequently opens late, causing major disruption in public services. Allegations have been made against Panchayat Secretary Subrata Nath, Tulsi Dey, and GRS officials Pramod Reang and Shailen Reang for consistently failing to report to duty on time.
As per official norms, the office should begin functioning by 10 AM. However, locals claim that even by midday, the office often remains closed, leaving citizens waiting outside without assistance.
The situation has particularly affected daily wage workers and villagers who travel long distances for essential services. Many of them are reportedly forced to wait for hours in harsh weather conditions, only to return without completing their work. People visiting for urgent certificates, job card updates, or housing scheme-related queries are among those most affected.
Angry residents stated that it is unacceptable for employees to draw salaries from public funds while failing to ensure timely service. They questioned where ordinary citizens should go if government offices remain inaccessible.
The incident has also raised concerns about the functioning of the Bogafa Block administration, with locals demanding strict action against the responsible officials and immediate steps to ensure punctuality and proper service delivery.
Criticizing the gap between policy and reality, residents remarked that while government campaigns promote “Doorstep Governance,” their experience at Rajnagar Panchayat reflects something closer to “doors remaining shut instead of services at the doorstep.”
