Despite widespread publicity surrounding the government’s “Har Ghar Jal” initiative, several regions in Tripura continue to face serious drinking water shortages. A major crisis has now surfaced in ONGC Para under Satcchaand Block, where residents claim they have been deprived of regular drinking water supply for almost two months.
Locals allege that the disruption in water services has created severe difficulties for families in carrying out daily household activities. Repeated complaints to the concerned department and Panchayat authorities have reportedly failed to bring any lasting solution to the problem.
Resident Amulya Karmakar stated that although officials were informed multiple times about the situation, the crisis still remains unresolved. While water tankers are occasionally sent to the area, residents say the supply is inadequate and unable to meet the demands of the entire locality.
With no dependable water source available, many families are now forced to travel long distances to collect water for daily use. Women, children, and elderly people are said to be the worst affected, struggling to manage cooking, sanitation, and access to safe drinking water.
Residents also pointed out that nearby tube wells are not providing sufficient clean water, worsening the situation further. Growing frustration among the locals has led to renewed demands for urgent administrative action to restore a regular and adequate drinking water supply in the area as soon as possible.
