Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is scheduled to visit Tripura on May 13, where she will offer prayers at the revered Tripura Sundari Temple, also known as Matabari, officials said.
The visit will come after her participation in the swearing-in ceremony of the newly formed BJP-led government in Assam, headed by Himanta Biswa Sarma, which is set to take place in Guwahati on May 12.
Before attending the ceremony, Gupta is also expected to visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple to seek blessings.
The Tripura Sundari Temple, located in Udaipur—about 55 km from Agartala—is one of the most significant Shakti Peethas in India. Dedicated to Goddess Tripureshwari, the shrine was built in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya and is believed to mark the spot where Goddess Sati’s right foot fell. The temple is uniquely situated on a hillock shaped like a tortoise and continues to draw devotees from across the country.
Gupta’s visit is expected to include brief religious offerings and interactions with temple authorities before she returns from the northeastern tour.
