A three-day training programme for officials involved in the upcoming Census 2027 has started at the Office of the District Magistrate in North Tripura. The initiative is part of the preparatory arrangements for the nationwide census exercise.

The programme was inaugurated at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office by Census Director Ratan Biswas. The event was attended by several senior officials, including the acting District Magistrate Vijay Sinha, Deputy Director of the Census Directorate Subhajit Debroy, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Block Development Officers from all eight blocks of the district, and other officers connected with census operations.

Speaking at a press briefing, Census Director Ratan Biswas explained the overall structure of the upcoming census. He highlighted that the census is essential for effective development planning and policy formulation at the national level. He appealed to the public to cooperate fully by providing accurate information during the process.

He further assured that all personal data collected would remain strictly confidential. He also announced a new feature being introduced for the first time in this census cycle—self-enumeration through a mobile-based system. Citizens will be able to submit their household and personal details online between July 17 and July 31 from their homes.

After the online self-enumeration phase, the second stage of the process will involve door-to-door data collection by enumerators from August 1 to August 30.

Officials said the training programme is aimed at equipping field staff and administrative personnel to ensure a smooth, accurate, and efficient census operation across the district.
