Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is determined to further weaken the CPI(M) in the state and claimed that the party would win at least 10 more seats from the Left Front in the future.
Addressing a felicitation programme for newly appointed Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said the CPI(M) has lost its political relevance and is attempting to mislead people through social media and other platforms.
Dr. Saha emphasized that discipline and grassroots organization are crucial for the BJP’s continued success. He urged party workers and booth-level leaders to strengthen the party structure across the state and actively communicate government achievements to the people.
“If we want to move forward in the right direction, discipline is essential. Booth committees and party workers must become stronger and work according to the aspirations of the people,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the BJP would retain power in Tripura beyond 2028 if the organization remains united and active at the grassroots level.
“There is no alternative to the BJP. People have already seen the rule of Congress and CPI(M). The communists are now politically bankrupt,” he remarked.
Dr. Saha also accused the CPI(M) of spreading misinformation and attempting to damage the BJP politically. He claimed that Left rule in Tripura contributed to the rise of drug mafias in the state and said the current government is taking strict action against such activities.
“The BJP must continue its efforts to politically defeat CPI(M) in Tripura just as it has declined across the country,” he added.
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led government, the Chief Minister stated that Tripura has made significant progress in economic growth, literacy, healthcare, and education.
According to him, Tripura currently ranks second among northeastern states in terms of GSDP and per capita income. He also noted that NITI Aayog has recognized Tripura as a front-runner state.
Dr. Saha further said the number of MBBS and postgraduate medical seats in the state has increased considerably and a Dental College has also been established.
The programme was attended by BJP state president Abhishek Debroy, former state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, BJP Prabhari Dr. Rajdeep Roy, cabinet ministers, MLAs, and senior party leaders.
