Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized today that economic empowerment of minority communities is essential for the progress of Tripura.
Speaking at the Mukhyamantri Sankhyalaghu Unnayan Prokolpa 2025 and the Distribution of Loan Assistance event at Pragna Bhavan, he reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development for people from all sections of society.
Dr. Saha stressed the importance of education in driving progress.
“Education is the greatest asset. Recently, 52 minority Muslims cleared the UPSC examination. This reflects that opportunity and effort matter more than background. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayaas’ truly inspires us, and it is something we haven’t witnessed before,” he said.
Reflecting on his political outreach, Dr. Saha added, “During the Boxanagar bye-election, I spent nearly two weeks connecting with local communities. My goal was simple: if my engagement could contribute to development and victory, why not? Strengthening ourselves through education and skill development is essential. With communal tensions, no real progress can be achieved.”
He further highlighted the changing social landscape of Tripura. “Today, we recognize professionals like doctors for their work, not their religion. Social issues such as Triple Talaq, long considered a superstition, have been addressed through reforms led by PM Modi. Many feared unrest, but the transition has been peaceful. We are focusing on skill development and the proper utilization of Waqf properties, which were previously mismanaged by vested interests.”
Dr. Saha also expressed concern over migration-related challenges. “During my visit to West Bengal, I noticed that some migrants, due to lack of resources and education, become vulnerable to illegal activities, which can affect their future. Tripura has no issues with minority Muslims. However, this government will not tolerate communal disharmony and aims to ensure development for all communities.”
As part of the initiative, financial assistance of ₹10,000 was distributed to 1,500 minority families. Dr. Saha said, “Prime Minister Modi’s vision has always been to strengthen minority communities economically. This scheme will enhance their standard of living and fortify their economic foundation.”
