In a major step towards technology-enabled educational governance, the School Education Department of Tripura has launched an Online School Inspection and Continuous Student Assessment System aimed at improving classroom learning and strengthening accountability in government schools.

The initiative has been conceptualised under the guidance of Dr. Milind Ramteke, IAS, Secretary, School Education Department, and is being implemented by Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury, Director of Elementary Education, Director of Secondary Education and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha. The programme seeks to create a transparent, evidence-based mechanism for monitoring schools and tracking students’ academic progress, particularly at the foundational and primary levels.

The system is integrated with the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), enabling officials at the State, district and block levels to access real-time data through a digital dashboard. The platform will help identify learning gaps, review school performance and facilitate timely academic interventions. District Magistrates of all eight districts will also receive dashboard access for prompt decision-making.

To ensure effective implementation, the Department has organised virtual training for District Education Officers, MIS Coordinators and NIPUN Coordinators. Earlier, extensive hands-on training was conducted for Block Resource Persons, Cluster Resource Persons and Inspectors of Schools across the State.

According to departmental sources, the digital platform introduces a strong accountability framework by monitoring the quality and frequency of school inspections. The Continuous Student Assessment module will provide teachers with timely feedback on students’ learning progress and help identify children requiring additional academic support.

Officials believe the initiative will strengthen classroom practices, improve institutional accountability and significantly enhance learning outcomes across Tripura, reflecting the State Government’s growing emphasis on technology-driven and outcome-based educational reforms.
