Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has appealed to the state's youth to play a proactive role in achieving the vision of a tuberculosis-free Tripura and supporting the national goal of a TB-free India. He also encouraged every Gram Panchayat across the state to strive for recognition as a TB-free Panchayat.

The Governor was speaking while inaugurating a tuberculosis awareness workshop under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Wednesday. The programme was jointly organised by the Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (RIPSAT), the Health and Family Welfare Department, and the National Health Mission (NHM).

In his address, Governor Nallu described the fight against tuberculosis as not only a public health challenge but also a social responsibility requiring collective participation. He stressed the importance of identifying TB patients at an early stage, ensuring timely diagnosis, and strengthening healthcare support for people employed in high-risk occupations.

Referring to the national campaign launched under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the Governor said the Tripura Government is fully committed to eliminating tuberculosis and called upon public representatives, healthcare professionals, and citizens to work together to make the mission a success.

On the occasion, the Governor launched the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan App, distributed nutrition kits to TB patients, and honoured several Nikshay Mitras for their valuable contribution to the campaign. Organisations including NEEPCO, NEDFi, and the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura were also felicitated for extending their support to the initiative.

State TB Officer and Joint Director of the Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department, Dr. Nupur Debbarma, outlined the objectives and achievements of the campaign. The programme also featured inspiring testimonies from individuals who successfully recovered from tuberculosis.

Among those present were Director of the Health and Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Dr. Anjan Das, NHM Joint Mission Director Jubilee Debbarma, and RIPSAT Officer-in-Charge and Principal Prof. Dr. Rishiraj Chhetri, who delivered the welcome address.
