A decomposed body was recovered from a pond at Dwarikapur under Kalyanpur police station on Monday, creating panic in the area. The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Sanjit Tanti.

According to family sources, Sanjit Tanti had been missing for the past four to five days. On Monday morning, locals spotted his body floating in a pond located in the Bagan Bazar Tea Garden area under Dwarikapur Panchayat and informed the authorities.

After receiving the information, a team from Kalyanpur Police Station reached the spot along with a forensic team. The body was recovered and sent to the morgue for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Police officials said the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear and the cause of death is yet to be determined. An investigation is underway to find out whether it was an accidental death or if there was any foul play involved.

The recovery of the decomposed body has raised several questions among locals, and many have expressed suspicion over the circumstances. Police are expected to register an unnatural death case and proceed with a detailed investigation after receiving the post-mortem report.
