Tipra Motha Party chief and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Sunday urged the Tripura Government to immediately constitute a monitoring committee to prevent the entry of evicted illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from Assam into Tripura.

Speaking to reporters, Pradyot said he had recently held a meeting with the Election Commission of India (ECI), where he made it clear that illegal immigrants must not be allowed to settle in Tripura.

“We will form monitoring committees comprising members from all political parties under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). These committees will visit villages, collect data, and identify those who have entered or are trying to enter the TTAADC areas illegally. We are in this situation because of vote bank politics. Even in Bihar, people are now standing together against illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and Myanmar,” he said.

Debbarma pointed out that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched a strong eviction drive targeting illegal migrants. “Monitoring committees have already been set up in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram. But in Tripura, no such steps have been taken yet,” he said.

He further urged the Tripura Chief Minister to act swiftly.

“Tripura shares a long border with Assam. Once illegal migrants are evicted from there, they may try to enter Tripura. We need to be prepared. This is not the time for vote bank politics. We must think about our future generations. I urge the government to ensure that not a single evicted illegal Bangladeshi from Assam is allowed to enter our state,” he asserted.
