A gang of thieves reportedly stole around 22 sacks of rice and several other items from Fair Price Shop No. 3 in the Durga Bari Banduar area of Phul Kumari on Friday morning.

Parimal Shil, the shop dealer, had left for home on Thursday evening after distributing daily necessities to customers.

He was alerted by locals on Friday morning about the theft and rushed back to the shop, only to find the extensive damage.

Assistant District Magistrate of Gomti district, Sujan Sen, visited the spot immediately upon learning of the incident. The Radha Kishore Pur police station was also informed; however, residents expressed frustration over the delayed police response.

The incident has sparked concerns among locals, as Udaipur has been witnessing repeated cases of anti-social activities and theft. Residents are now demanding increased police patrolling during night hours to prevent such incidents in the future.
