Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the crucial role of teachers in transforming society while addressing the third tri-annual state convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shashik Mahasangh, held at Nazrul Kalakshetra Auditorium in Agartala today.

Dr. Saha stressed that teachers are the backbone of the country and the state, responsible for providing quality education and nurturing future citizens.

“Teachers are the craftsmen of the future. You are investing your valuable education, skills, and energy in the next generation, which will return manifold in building the state and the nation,” he said.

The Chief Minister urged educators to instill patriotism in children and guide them toward a bright future. Referring to Tripura’s recent relief efforts in Himachal Pradesh, he said, “Tripura sent ₹5 crore to support people affected by the natural disaster, along with relief materials worth ₹45 lakh. Teachers, too, should cultivate a sense of dedication and nationalism in their students.”

Dr. Saha also highlighted the state government’s development initiatives, emphasizing infrastructure, job creation, and self-reliance.

“Tripura is now 5th in India and first among the eight Northeastern states in development. Our government has prioritized improving teachers’ welfare, including granting a 29% DA in 29 months,” he added.

He assured that issues such as teacher promotions, shortages, and skill development programs are being actively addressed.

“Teachers can make children dream and achieve their dreams. Society listens to teachers, and your role in educating visually impaired students is commendable,” he said.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the state’s growing rural economy, noting that 1.08 lakh people have become millionaires and the number of self-help groups has risen from 4,000 to 56,000. “The government is working to increase farmers’ income and enhance infrastructure in the education sector, including starting a women’s university at the Women’s College,” he added.

The convention was attended by former MP Rebati Tripura, Dr. Arjun Gop, Organizing Secretary of the Assam Zone of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrik Shashik Mahasangh, State President Titu Saha, General Secretary Pranab Mallick, Treasurer Sanjay Kumar Raut, and several prominent educationists and teachers.
