In a heartwarming and innovative effort to take the message of education to Tripura’s remotest corners, the School Education Department organized a spectacular boat rally across the serene waters of the Dumboor reservoir in Karbook, Gomati district.
The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the NIPUN Mission, a national program focused on ensuring foundational literacy and numeracy for every child in India.
Speaking about the event, Abhijit Samajpati, Nodal Officer of the NIPUN Tripura Mission, said the rally symbolized the state’s commitment to inclusive education.
“Held in Dumbur, where boats serve as the lifeline of connectivity, this one-of-a-kind rally featured 20 beautifully decorated boats and representatives from 15 schools. Each boat carried themes reflecting the goals of the NIPUN Mission and travelled from Naukaghat to several islands, encouraging parents to send their children to school,” he shared.
The rally was organized under the banner of the ongoing NIPUN Fest, commemorating the third anniversary of the NIPUN Tripura Mission and the fourth anniversary of the NIPUN Bharat Mission. Since October 1, the state has witnessed over 3,700 rallies and 1,700 street plays, making this month-long celebration a true festival of learning.
The event was inaugurated by Rajib Dutta, Director of Elementary Education, who lauded the enthusiasm and dedication of teachers, students, and parents alike.
“The successful implementation of the NIPUN Mission will not only strengthen children’s educational foundations but also help reduce dropout rates and foster a greater love for learning,” Dutta said.
He further emphasized that such community-driven initiatives have a far-reaching social impact — from enhancing literacy levels to reducing child marriage rates in rural and tribal areas.
Adding a cultural flourish to the day, tribal students performed traditional songs in the Kokborok language, creatively woven around the themes of NIPUN and education.
Alongside the rally, a tableau procession on the road showcased students’ artistic expression and community spirit.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Shyamjoy Jamatia (SDM, Karbook), Gamanjoy Reang (SDPO, Karbook), Bikram Kishore Jamatia (IS, Karbook), renowned social worker Atindra Reang, and the Headmaster of Karbook Panjiham School. Headmasters and teachers from various schools also joined the celebration, marking the occasion as a memorable milestone in Tripura’s educational journey.
With vibrant boats, cultural performances, and heartfelt community participation, the rally stood as a shining example of how education can truly sail beyond barriers — reaching every child, even across the remotest islands of Tripura.
