Bikash Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister of Tripura, today reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety, discipline and quality education of students in all residential educational institutions across the state.

As part of this commitment, the Minister visited the boys’ and girls’ hostels of Purnajoy CP High School at South Twisama in Dasda-Kanchanpur to review a recent incident. During the inspection, he thoroughly examined the hostel’s security arrangements, the alertness and responsibility of the staff on duty, and the circumstances under which the residential girl students were able to leave the premises. He said the matter has been taken very seriously and reviewed with utmost importance.

Issuing a special appeal to parents, Debbarma urged them to be cautious before providing unnecessary mobile phones to minors staying in hostels. He warned that unregulated mobile phone usage can lead to contact with unknown individuals, which may eventually result in temptation, fraud, or involvement in criminal networks. He emphasized that families and society play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

The Minister further stated that the government is treating the incident with the highest priority. The administration and police have already taken necessary steps, and those involved will be identified and dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. He added that effective measures are being implemented to strengthen security in all residential hostels, ensure regular monitoring, and enforce responsible supervision.

“Our sole objective is to ensure that every child and adolescent in the state can pursue education in a completely safe, fear-free and healthy environment,” Debbarma said, adding that a secure future can only be achieved through collective awareness and cooperation among the government, administration and parents.
