In a significant step toward strengthening digital access in higher education, Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced the release of Rs 6,23,90,000 under the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana (MYYY) for the academic year 2024–25.
The announcement was made during a programme held at the Secretariat in Agartala. The initiative aims to support students by providing financial assistance to purchase smartphones, enabling them to access digital learning platforms and educational resources.
Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha, the Government of Tripura remains committed to empowering students with improved facilities and expanding opportunities for digital education.
Under the scheme, 12,478 eligible final-year students studying in Government Colleges across the state will receive ₹5,000 each as a smartphone grant. The assistance is intended to help students stay connected with digital learning tools, online study materials, and academic resources that are increasingly essential in modern education.
The scheme is being successfully implemented by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura.
Officials stated that the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana has been playing a vital role in bridging the digital divide among college students in the state and supporting their academic and career development through improved access to technology.
