The Tripura Queer Pride Walk 2025 was held for the third time in the capital on Saturday, with members of the LGBTQ community taking to the streets to demand equality, acceptance, and an end to discrimination.
The colourful procession, organized by local activist group Swabhiman, began from Umakanta School and passed through various streets of Agartala, drawing attention from onlookers.
The first edition of the Pride Walk in the state was held in September 2022.
Speaking to reporters, one participant said, “We are all human beings and should be accepted the way we are, without any compulsion or force. The Constitution of India has given us the right to live with dignity, and the right to our gender identity is ours alone.”
He further noted that many people in Tripura remain in hiding due to family and societal pressure, and called for an end to such injustice.
The Pride Walk aimed to send a strong message of respect, equality, and inclusion for all, while challenging prejudices still prevalent in society.
