In a major anti-narcotics operation, Tripura Police seized a large consignment of Yaba tablets in North Tripura district and arrested two persons in connection with the case.
Based on specific intelligence inputs, officers from Kadamtala Police Station carried out a raid at Bagan village under the Dharmanagar subdivision. The operation was conducted under the supervision of North Tripura SP Avinash Rai.
During the search of a house belonging to Gautam Das in Ward No. 6 of Bagan Gram Panchayat, police discovered around 50,000 Yaba tablets. The drugs were allegedly concealed inside a cowshed on the premises.
Authorities estimated the recovered contraband to be worth approximately ₹2.5 crore in the illegal market.
Two individuals, identified as Gautam Das and Jasimuddin, were taken into custody at the spot. Preliminary investigations suggest their possible role in storing and distributing narcotics linked to a wider trafficking network operating across regional or cross-border routes.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kadamtala Police Station. Officials are currently interrogating the accused to trace the source of the drugs and identify other members of the syndicate.
Police teams are also probing supply chains, financial trails, and storage networks associated with the seizure as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
