Tripura Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman has taken a significant step to protect and enhance higher education opportunities for students from the state.

During a meeting held at Bikash Bhavan in Kolkata, Barman met with West Bengal Higher Education Minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay to discuss the restoration of reserved seats for Tripura students in government engineering colleges across West Bengal. The talks also covered reserved seats at the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology in Serampore and Berhampore.

Speaking on the matter, Barman said the West Bengal minister responded positively and assured him that the issue would be addressed promptly, with efforts being made to restore the reserved quota for Tripura students.

The Tripura minister noted that the reserved seats had been discontinued in previous years and emphasized the importance of reinstating them to ensure wider access to quality technical and professional education for students from the state.

He described the discussions as a constructive move toward strengthening educational ties between Tripura and West Bengal while creating more opportunities for aspiring engineers and technical professionals.

If the proposal is implemented, students from Tripura could once again benefit from reserved admissions in several reputed engineering and technical institutions in West Bengal, expanding their prospects for higher education and career development.
