A complaint has been submitted to the West Agartala Police Station demanding legal action against an individual for allegedly sharing objectionable and provocative content on social media targeting Tipra Motha founder and royal scion of Tripura, Pradyot Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma.
The complaint was filed by Youth Tipra Federation (YTF) Sepahijala District President Babulu Debbarma and YTF West District Vice-President Adarsh Debbarma, along with other members of the organisation.
According to the complainants, a person identified as Sanjib Debbarma allegedly posted repeated derogatory and insulting remarks against Pradyot Kishore on publicly accessible platforms, including Facebook.
The YTF members stated that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, the alleged use of abusive language against a prominent public figure has caused anger and disappointment among members of the indigenous community and supporters of Tipra Motha.
They alleged that the posts were made with malicious intent to provoke sentiments and create division among communities, potentially affecting public harmony.
The complainants have requested police to register an FIR, conduct a thorough investigation, trace the source of the posts, preserve digital evidence and take necessary action under applicable laws.
YTF members further assured full cooperation with the investigation and said they would provide screenshots, links and other evidence related to the alleged posts to the authorities.
