Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu emphasized that the Constitution of India is not just a legal framework but a guiding force ensuring justice, equality, and freedom for every citizen.
He inaugurated a seminar and workshop titled “Responsibilities and Accountability of Public Representatives Towards People of All Sections of Society” at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala.
Addressing public representatives, the Governor stressed their foremost duty is to serve citizens with dedication and ensure that constitutional rights reach every individual. He highlighted the importance of empowering farmers, tribal communities, women, and youth, reminding elected officials that their responsibility extends beyond their constituencies to the entire state. He also lauded Tripura for achieving full literacy and urged stakeholders to strengthen quality education and women’s empowerment, noting initiatives that have fostered over one lakh women entrepreneurs and many “Lakhpati Didis.”
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reinforced the message, stating that true public representatives safeguard citizens’ dignity, maintain ethical conduct, and ensure accountability in their work. He described the initiative as a historic step toward a more transparent, people-centric democracy. Dr. Saha highlighted the role of technology in the era of Digital India to maintain direct communication with citizens and promote transparency in development projects and welfare schemes.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh spoke about the role of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in promoting parliamentary democracy and good governance. He also highlighted Tripura’s rich cultural heritage shaped by 19 tribal communities and the Manikya dynasty, while acknowledging the Northeast’s accelerated growth since 2014 due to central government initiatives.
The seminar underscored a shared vision: ethical governance, transparency, and inclusive development as pillars of a strong democracy, ensuring progress reaches every section of society.
