Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Tripura, today assured that the state government is taking proactive steps to ensure uninterrupted supply and stable prices of petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders, other petroleum products, and essential commodities across the state.
The Minister chaired an emergency review meeting at the State Secretariat after long queues were reported at petrol pumps in parts of the city since yesterday. The rush followed concerns over a possible fuel shortage amid tensions arising from reported U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Addressing the situation, Chowdhury clarified that there is no fuel crisis in the state and urged citizens not to panic. He emphasized that strict measures are being enforced to prevent black marketing, hoarding, and any artificial price hike of essential goods.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the current stock and supply position of petrol, diesel, LPG, and essential food items. He issued necessary guidelines to officials to ensure smooth distribution and to closely monitor market activities. Special focus was given to preventing any attempt to create an artificial shortage of fuel or other essential commodities that could lead to unwarranted price increases.
The department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining market stability across Tripura.
