Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday asserted that politics built on ethnic or communal divisions is harmful and unacceptable. He said attempts to incite people in the name of demands such as “Tipraland” or “Greater Tipraland” are misleading and detrimental to social harmony.
Addressing a gathering organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party at Demdum in Fatikrai under Unakoti district, the Chief Minister alleged that certain groups are exploiting innocent Janajati communities for political gain. He maintained that such divisive strategies do not serve the state’s long-term interests.
Dr. Saha welcomed 215 voters from 57 families who joined the party at the event, calling their decision timely and significant. He expressed appreciation for the strong participation of tribal community members, stating that their presence reflected confidence in both the state government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He emphasized that the present government is committed to inclusive development, transparency, and socio-economic upliftment across all communities. Special focus, he said, is being given to the promotion and preservation of Kokborok and other minority languages in the state.
The Chief Minister remarked that political culture in India has evolved under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. According to him, governance today prioritizes accountability and development over corruption and power politics. He added that the Tripura government is following the same path by ensuring clean administration and equal opportunities for all sections of society, particularly tribal communities.
