Tripura Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Sunday strongly condemned the recent violence in the Kamalpur subdivision of Dhalai district, which erupted during a state-wide strike.
He appealed to the people to abandon separatist mindsets and strengthen their trust in democratic principles.
Chowdhury made these remarks after attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme at Banamanipur in Agartala. Speaking to the media later, he clarified that the Kamalpur incident was not politically motivated.
“People from all walks of life across Tripura have denounced and protested against this act of violence. Our government and party firmly oppose such disorderly activities. True democratic movements must be peaceful — chaos and unrest can never bring success. The era of achieving goals through violence is long over,” Chowdhury stated.
Highlighting the state’s development under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the minister noted that India, including Tripura, is making significant progress in various sectors such as the economy, technology, and infrastructure, and is gaining prominence globally.
Calling for unity and collective advancement, Chowdhury urged citizens to focus on development and harmony.
“Our common objective should be to lead Tripura on the path of growth and prosperity,” he added.
