Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will be organised across the state from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

Speaking at an important meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state committee in Agartala, Dr. Saha said the campaign would focus on social service activities while highlighting the Prime Minister’s welfare-oriented initiatives and development programmes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday will be observed on September 17. According to the Chief Minister, the BJP and the state government are working together to ensure that the month-long campaign reaches people across Tripura.

“This occasion is observed every year as the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. This year, around 25 programmes have been planned in different parts of the state,” Dr. Saha said.

He said the programmes would include tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, drawing competitions for children and several other social initiatives. The achievements and people-centric schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be showcased during the campaign.

Dr. Saha stressed the importance of people’s participation in making the initiative successful. He said the objective was to ensure that the benefits of various welfare schemes and good-governance initiatives reach people at the grassroots level.

“Earlier, we had undertaken the first and second phases of good governance initiatives at the household level. Our aim is to connect people with the benefits of government programmes and ensure their participation in these efforts,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that the Prime Minister’s birthday would be celebrated through a series of service-oriented activities involving people across the state.

BJP state president and MLA Abhishek Debroy, along with senior party leaders, were present at the meeting.
