Fisheries, Animal Resources Development and Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Tuesday held a district-level review meeting of the three departments at the conference hall of the Belonia Circuit House in South Tripura.
The meeting assessed the progress of various schemes and development programmes implemented by the three departments in the district during the previous financial year. Officials also presented updates on ongoing activities being carried out during the current financial year.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Das directed officials to ensure the effective and timely utilisation of funds sanctioned under different Central and State government schemes. He emphasised that delays in utilising funds could affect the delivery of benefits to intended beneficiaries and called for greater efficiency in implementing welfare and development programmes.
The minister also called upon departmental officials to undertake more frequent field visits to assess the ground-level progress of schemes. He urged elected representatives at different levels to maintain regular supervision and monitoring of departmental activities in their respective areas.
During the meeting, Minister Das announced a major development initiative at Batisata in Rajnagar. A waterbody, children's park, boating facilities and log huts will be developed across an area of 96 kani at an estimated cost of Rs 24.21 crore.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of the three departments in South Tripura and appreciated the efforts of the officials. He also sought continued cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure faster and more effective implementation of departmental programmes in the district.
