A Special Police Officer (SPO) was found in an allegedly intoxicated condition beside a roadside at Yeazekhowra on August 23, prompting departmental action, police sources said.

According to police, the District Intelligence Branch (DIB) received information about the incident and subsequently directed the Officer-in-Charge of Irani Police Station to conduct an enquiry and submit a report.

The enquiry found that at around 9:30 am on August 23, SPO-206 Budhu Urang was reportedly found lying beside the roadside at Yeazekhowra in an intoxicated state. He was still wearing his official police uniform at the time.

Following the information, personnel from Irani Police Station were sent to the spot to verify the matter. After confirming the situation, police informed his family members and handed him over to them.

Officials clarified that Urang had already completed his assigned duty and was returning home when the incident occurred.

Police said departmental proceedings have been initiated against SPO-206 Budhu Urang as per the applicable rules.

The incident has drawn attention to discipline and professional conduct among police personnel. However, officials maintained that the SPO was off duty when he was found in the condition.
