The capital city is gearing up for a grand Durga Puja celebration with more than 230 pujas expected to be organised this year, informed West District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Vishal Kumar.
The DM shared the details while presiding over a coordination meeting with club committees and puja organisers at Agartala Town Hall on Thursday morning.
The meeting was also attended by West District Superintendent of Police (SP) Namit Pathak, Traffic SP Kanta Jangir, along with senior police and civil administration officials.
Dr. Kumar said that while 230 large-scale pandals will be set up across Agartala, several smaller pujas will also be organised in different localities. “The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that the upcoming Durga Puja is conducted peacefully and smoothly, following all prescribed norms. Sound system providers, decorators and organisers have also joined today so that issues, if any, can be resolved at this stage itself,” he stated.
He further mentioned that guidelines regarding the use of sound systems will be clarified in advance to avoid confusion. “Our priority is that people face no inconvenience during the celebrations. As some areas are under construction, we will introduce diversions after consultation with all stakeholders. All arrangements and routes will be communicated beforehand,” the DM assured.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Namit Pathak highlighted the importance of inter-departmental cooperation. “This is essentially a coordination meeting. The focus is to make sure citizens can enjoy the puja without any hurdles. Smooth communication and cooperation between organisers and all departments will be the key,” he said.
The administration is expected to finalise traffic arrangements, security measures, and other logistics in the coming days to ensure a safe and joyous Durga Puja in Agartala.
