Dr Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, on Saturday expressed optimism that the formation of a new government in Bangladesh after the recently concluded elections would further strengthen bilateral ties with India and contribute to the emergence of a renewed and progressive Bangladesh.
Reacting to the election outcome, Dr. Saha termed the development “happy news for all,” stating that the installation of a democratically elected government reflects the will of the people of Bangladesh.
“In the coming days, whoever assumes office as Prime Minister, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. I sincerely hope that the strong and cordial relationship between India and Bangladesh continues to flourish. Tripura is uniquely positioned in this regard, as three sides of the state share an international border with Bangladesh. Our cultures, traditions, and histories are closely intertwined. In the past, too, we have enjoyed warm and friendly relations,” he said.
Dr. Saha expressed confidence that the new government’s formation would reinvigorate bilateral ties and pave the way for enhanced cooperation across various sectors.
“Following the Partition, many families were separated, with relatives living on either side of the border. I believe that under the new leadership, these bonds will grow stronger, marking the beginning of a new chapter of friendship and partnership with Bangladesh,” he added.
