The remarkable infrastructure development in Northeast India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was highlighted in the Rajya Sabha during the discussion on the Union Budget for the financial year 2026–27.

Participating in the debate, Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee underscored the unprecedented progress made in rail and road connectivity across the region.

He stated that areas which had long remained neglected are now witnessing transformative changes, significantly improving trade, tourism, and everyday travel for citizens.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of the “Chicken’s Neck” corridor, Bhattacharjee said that those who raise concerns about the region’s vulnerability should recognize that India today stands as a strong nation with a much more robust security framework than before.

The MP further asserted that Prime Minister Modi has worked extensively for the welfare of the poor. He claimed that over the past nine years, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty under the Prime Minister’s leadership.

Responding to criticism from opposition parties, Bhattacharjee urged them to visit Tripura to witness the development firsthand. In a sharp remark, he said he was even ready to provide “glasses of development” if needed, adding that seeing the progress on the ground would answer all their questions.
