Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today expressed his satisfaction over the peaceful and beautifully celebrated Durga Puja this year. Highlighting one of the government’s key objectives, he emphasized the continued development and promotion of art, culture, and literature in the state.

He also noted that this year’s Puja saw remarkable enthusiasm among the Janajati communities.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while inaugurating the ‘Mayer Gaman 2025’ program held in front of Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ School in Agartala. Speaking as the chief guest at the event organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, he extended his greetings for a joyful Bijoya and Dussehra to the people of Tripura.

Highlighting the history of the event, Dr. Saha said, "This carnival has been organized for four years. The first two editions were held in front of the City Centre, and since last year, after consultation with stakeholders, it has been shifted to Tulsibati School. One of the main objectives of this event is to celebrate Puja in an aesthetic, beautiful, and orderly environment. It has become one of the flagship cultural programs of the ICA Department."

He further added,"Today, children from both the Jati and Janajati communities have showcased splendid cultural performances. Such events enrich our traditions and customs, and our government is committed to fostering this environment. Programs like these strengthen the message of harmony among communities."

Recalling the historical significance of the venue, the Chief Minister said,"After taking charge of the ICA Department, I discussed with fellow ministers that during the princely era, a procession was held from this location for the immersion of the idols. With the consensus of clubs, organizations, and Puja committees, we have continued this tradition. Hence, the arrangements for the Mother’s visit have been organized here, respecting our age-old customs."

Dr. Saha also highlighted the inclusive nature of Bijoya and Dussehra, saying,"This auspicious occasion is not confined to Hinduism alone; it is appreciated and celebrated globally. Whether it is Durga Puja or Mayer Gaman, our government aims to develop art, culture, and literature and foster its practice across Tripura. This year, I also participated in Pujas organized by Janajati communities in different parts of the state. The enthusiasm surrounding Durga Puja in tribal areas has grown tremendously, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of these regions. Like last year, this year too, Durga Puja concluded peacefully and beautifully, without any untoward incidents."

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, DGP Anurag, ICA Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya, along with other public representatives, officials, and prominent citizens of the society.
