The Tripura Left Front State Committee today expressed concern over what it described as a deterioration in the law and order situation in the state.

In a statement issued after a committee meeting, the Left Front alleged an increase in crimes, including violence against women, and urged the government to take stronger measures to ensure public safety.

The statement also raised alarm over the growing problem of drug trafficking in the state, referring to a recent seizure of narcotics from a railway wagon at Jirania railway station. The committee alleged that such incidents indicate deep-rooted issues within the state’s enforcement system and called for an independent investigation by experienced officers to identify those involved.

On the issue of unemployment, the Left Front highlighted the migration of young people to other states in search of jobs and linked it to growing poverty and malnutrition. It cited a reported case in Gandachara, where a couple allegedly sold their newborn due to financial distress, and urged the government to expand employment opportunities and ensure timely payment of wages.

The committee also condemned incidents of violence that occurred in Shantir Bazar under Kamalpur subdivision on October 23, during a bandh reportedly called by a local group. Several vehicles, shops, and houses were damaged in the violence, and a number of people, including a police officer and an engineer, were injured and admitted to GB Hospital.

The Left Front urged all political parties to refrain from activities that could disturb communal harmony and peace in the state. Concluding the meeting, the committee announced that it would launch a statewide movement in the coming days to raise issues related to law and order, unemployment, and corruption.

The meeting was attended by Left Front State Committee Convener Manik Dey, CPI(M) Central Committee member Naresh Jamatia, CPI State Council Secretary Milan Baidya, RSP leader Deepak Deb, Forward Bloc Secretary Paresh Sarkar, and Ashish Bhattacharya.
