Hundreds of job aspirants staged a protest on Friday in front of the office of the Tripura Teachers Recruitment Board, demanding the immediate publication of the STGT examination results and completion of the recruitment process in a single phase.

The protesters began a peaceful sit-in demonstration in the morning, holding placards outside the TRBT office. Their primary demand was the prompt release of the results of the STGT (Selection Test for Graduate Teachers) examination.

According to the candidates, the STGT recruitment examination was conducted in 2022 under the Tripura Teachers Recruitment Board, with several thousand aspirants appearing for the test. However, nearly three years have passed and the results have yet to be declared. They also alleged that there has been no clear indication from the authorities regarding the commencement of the recruitment process.

One aspirant said that candidates have been waiting since 2022 after spending considerable amounts of money to sit for the examination. “We have only received repeated assurances, but there has been no real progress. Many of us are approaching the upper age limit for government jobs. If the results are not published soon, we may lose our opportunity to participate in the recruitment process,” the candidate stated.

The protesters appealed to the Chief Minister with folded hands, urging immediate intervention. They claimed that despite submitting memorandums over the past several months to the Chief Minister, the Education Minister, and various administrative and political offices, they have not received any satisfactory response. Left with no alternative, they said, they were compelled to stage a demonstration outside the TRBT office.

The aspirants further alleged that due to prolonged delays, many candidates will soon exceed the age limit, resulting in their exclusion from the recruitment process. They demanded that the government immediately publish the examination results and expedite the recruitment process without further delay.

The protesters also warned that if the government fails to take effective steps promptly, they will be forced to launch a larger movement in the coming days.
