Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today emphasized that politics cannot be driven by muscle power or communal provocation.
Speaking at the Karyakarta Conference organized by the Mandwai Mandal, he said the BJP government is committed to the welfare of people, particularly in janajati areas, and is working to liberate the state from a “politics of fear.”
During the event, Dr. Saha welcomed 339 new voters from 109 families into the BJP.
He praised the courage of the janajati community, saying, “True courage is not about hitting someone with a stick, but about speaking confidently and showing leadership, qualities the janajatis possess.”
He criticized past communist rule in the state, alleging that it was marked by “murder, terrorism, and arson,” and highlighted that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, India’s political landscape has transformed. “We are following the path set by the Prime Minister, but attempts are being made to create an atmosphere of anarchy in Tripura,” he said. Dr. Saha referred to an incident where a 75-year-old woman was attacked during a money laundering case, questioning the morality of such acts in politics.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s stance: “Wherever parties try to suppress people’s voices through force, it will not be tolerated. Politics should be conducted respectfully, and any attempts to pressure or malign the government or party will be met with strict action.”
He further highlighted the increasing participation of janajati women in politics, noting, “Mothers and sisters are playing a special role in strengthening the BJP. Our aim is to reach people through genuine work and engagement.”
