Agartala is all set to celebrate Ganesh Puja on August 27, with police ramping up security measures across the city to ensure a peaceful festival.
On Sunday evening, Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy and West Agartala Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee held a meeting with Puja organisers to review preparations and discuss safety protocols.
“So far, we have received around 30 applications for organising Ganesh Puja in the city. To maintain law and order, we have sought additional forces, arranged mobile vigilance, and are confident the situation will remain under control,” the SDPO said.
He added that with ongoing drainage work and several cultural programmes lined up, organisers must ensure smooth traffic movement and take steps to avoid inconvenience to the public.
“All Puja committees must deploy their own volunteers alongside security personnel. Use of loud DJs or sound systems will not be allowed—any violations will be dealt with strictly,” he cautioned.
Roy further informed that detailed plans for Dashami have also been discussed to ensure a safe and orderly conclusion to the celebrations.
“Our objective is to see the Ganesh Puja end on a peaceful note,” the SDPO said.
