The Tripura government is making significant strides in transforming the state into an educational hub, aiming to empower future generations with knowledge and skills.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha reiterated this vision while addressing the foundation day celebration of Lipika Dasgupta Memorial School in East Gakulnagar, Bishalgarh, Sepahijala District.
Highlighting the government's efforts, Dr. Saha stated, "Education is the key to progress. Our focus is on fostering a system where students receive quality education integrated with cultural values. Various initiatives are being undertaken to bring about radical improvements in the education sector."
The Chief Minister praised the school’s efforts in blending Kokborok and Bengali languages while following the CBSE curriculum, emphasizing the importance of preserving indigenous traditions alongside modern education. "A visit to this school truly showcases how education can be imparted while keeping our cultural roots intact," he remarked.
Dr. Saha, who also serves as the state's Education Minister, announced that the school, currently offering classes up to the eighth standard, will be expanded to secondary and higher secondary levels in the coming years. He commended the Dr. Alekhya Dasgupta Trust for its commitment to social welfare through education and revealed that plans are underway to establish more such schools across the state.
The Chief Minister further underlined the government's priority on tribal development through education, noting that Kokborok textbooks are being introduced, and other reforms such as NCERT curriculum implementation and common question papers are underway. He also highlighted initiatives like English-medium schools, the ‘Super Thirty’ project, and various scholarship programs aimed at enhancing educational standards.
“Our efforts are yielding results, with people from outside the state also showing interest in Tripura’s evolving education sector. We are committed to making this state an educational hub,” Dr. Saha asserted.
