The long-awaited dream of Tripura having its own international cricket stadium is soon to become a reality, with construction expected to be completed by mid-2025.
Tripura’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Tinku Roy, confirmed that the stadium, located in Narsinghgarh, Agartala, is in its final phase of construction.
"The project commenced in 2017 but faced setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019-20, causing inevitable delays. However, after discussions with the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), we are assured that the stadium will be ready by mid-year, paving the way for its grand inauguration," he stated.
Once completed, this state-of-the-art stadium will be the second-largest in Northeast India, following the one in Guwahati, and will be equipped to host international cricket matches. With a seating capacity of 25,000, it will serve as the home ground for both the Tripura cricket team and the Indian national team.
Owned and operated by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), the stadium is expected to bolster cricketing infrastructure in the region, opening new avenues for young talents while bringing international sporting events to the state.
