The Power Department is planning to construct a 400 KV substation at Suryamaninagar to strengthen the state's internal grid and meet future increased electricity demand, and has decided to establish one Krishak Bandhu Kendra in each agricultural subdivision in a phased manner.

Power, Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath informed this today.

The Minister today inaugurated the augmentation of the 132 KV Kailashahar Sub-station and the new 132 KV transmission line from Dharmanagar to Kailashahar Sub-station (Gournagar).

He also inaugurated one Krishak Bandhu Kendra at Chantail under the Chandipur RD Block.

The Minister said that a 132 KV substation was already there, but the Power Department has increased its capacity, keeping in mind the next 10 years in the Kailashahar Subdivision, and also set up a double-circuit transmission line so that people don’t face any issues.

He said that the government had to spend Rs 59 crore 82 lakh for this, which came from the Central Government and the World Bank, and that a total of 46,351 consumers will benefit from it.

“Power is very essential for everyone. If we stop power for only 10 minutes, many problems may arise. Even in agriculture, power is essential. We also remember that the government is working for overall development, but a section of people is not paying bills to TSECL. In Kailashahar, only 36% of consumers pay their electricity bills. Because of this, genuine consumers face problems, and there is also the issue of hooklines. We must come out against hooklines and power theft. Now we are also providing solar power so that power can be generated. The Emergency Restoration System (ERS) technology plan is in place to prevent tower line failures. We also plan to construct a 400 kV substation at Suryamaninagar to strengthen the state's internal grid and meet future increased electricity demand,” said the Minister.

He also said that the dream of the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to bring India under modern management in the agricultural sector and establish the country as the world's grain bank.

“As you know, 'Agriculture is prosperity and technology is the tool'. The present government is always striving to provide modern technology information to farmers at the right time, provide adequate training, and implement the Lab to Land program properly through science-based farming. Keeping this idea in mind, the present state government decided in 2018, for the first time, to establish one Krishak Bandhu Kendra in each agricultural subdivision in a phased manner. There are currently 47 agricultural subdivisions in our state. Today we are inaugurating the 33rd Krishak Bandhu Kendra,” said the Minister.

The Agriculture Minister informed that the construction of 10 more Krishak Bandhu Kendras (Bamutia, Lefunga, Old Agartala, Mohanbhog, Tepania, B.C. Nagar, Poangbori, Ganganagar, Jubarajnagar, and Laljuri) will be completed in the current fiscal year, meaning that a total of 43 Krishak Bandhu Kendras will be operational in the state by 2025-26.

“Initiatives will be taken to open these centers in the remaining agricultural subdivisions in a phased manner. This Krishak Bandhu Kendra under the Gaurnagar Agricultural Subdivision has been set up at a cost of Rs 82 lakh 28 thousand from the RIDF project,” said the Minister.

In today's event, the Minister distributed various agricultural machinery among 20 farmers, while 30 farmers received fruit seedlings. In addition, 100 seed minikits were distributed.
