Tripura has secured investment commitments worth Rs 1,21,303 crore after signing 342 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the Tripura Destination Business Conclave 2026 held in Agartala. Several leading companies, including Google, ITC, L&T, MRF and Salesforce, were among the firms that signed agreements, marking one of the state's biggest investment initiatives.
Addressing a press conference on the concluding day of the two-day conclave at the International Fair Ground in Agartala, Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte said the event was part of the state government's sustained efforts to attract domestic and international investment. He said 45 organisations, comprising government departments, central agencies and private companies, participated in the conclave.
Ahead of the event, the state government organised investment roadshows in New Delhi and Hyderabad to engage with potential investors. Around 40 ambassadors were invited during the Delhi roadshow. The conclave received 2,731 registrations, while nearly 2,000 investors attended the event. Delegates representing around 1,200 organisations from different parts of India, as well as participants from Dubai and Canada, took part in the conclave. Ambassadors and High Commissioners from 10 countries attended the event, while delegates from 11 countries, including representatives of the Japan Trade Organisation, were also present.
Gitte said Tripura had signed 470 MoUs worth nearly ₹40,000 crore over the past four years. He added that ministers held one-to-one meetings with investors, and the Chief Minister also interacted with foreign delegates during the conclave. Although heavy rainfall affected attendance, around 300 startups and entrepreneurs from Tripura participated in the event.
He said the state had introduced several reforms to improve the investment climate and ease of doing business. According to him, Tripura's Gross State Domestic Product has doubled over the past six years, while capital expenditure has also witnessed significant growth.
Power Department Secretary Abhishek Singh said the power sector alone attracted investment proposals worth Rs 31,080 crore. Transport and Tourism Secretary U.K. Chakma said 31 MoUs worth Rs 12,303 crore were signed in the tourism sector, while the transport sector received 22 MoUs valued at Rs 356.5 crore.
Education and Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke said 11 MoUs worth Rs 16,700 crore were signed in the urban development sector following discussions with 55 companies. The education sector attracted 15 MoUs worth ₹568 crore.
Agriculture Secretary Apurba Roy said 34 MoUs worth Rs 1,675 crore were signed in the agriculture and horticulture sectors. Higher Education Secretary Raval Hamendra Kumar said 25 projects worth Rs 3,000 crore had been finalised in the higher education sector. Fisheries and ARDD Secretary Deep D. Nari said 27 MoUs with proposed investments of Rs 5,000 crore were signed in the fisheries and animal resources development sector.
Officials also said 39 MoUs worth Rs 1,727 crore were signed in the forest sector, including 14 agreements related to the bamboo industry. Gitte later informed that the health sector attracted eight MoUs worth Rs 4,000 crore, while the information technology sector received 43 MoUs valued at Rs 13,248 crore. The Industries and Commerce Department signed the highest number of agreements, with 110 MoUs worth Rs 30,000 crore.
Officials expressed confidence that the investment commitments would strengthen Tripura's industrial growth, generate employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the state's long-term economic development.
