Tripura Food, Public Distribution and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday reviewed the availability and prices of essential commodities at a meeting held at the State Secretariat, with a focus on ensuring adequate supplies and protecting consumers from undue price increases.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary and Director of the Food Department, senior officials, and representatives of the Tripura Wholesale Grocery Merchant Association.

Officials and stakeholders discussed the prevailing market situation and the supply and prices of key commodities, including rice, pulses, edible oil, sugar, potatoes and onions.

Chowdhury called for close coordination between government authorities and wholesale traders to maintain uninterrupted supplies across the state. He also stressed the importance of keeping essential commodities available at reasonable and affordable prices.

Measures to maintain market stability and check unnecessary price fluctuations were also discussed during the meeting. The minister urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and take timely steps to address any emerging supply-related concerns.

Chowdhury said the state government would continue to take necessary measures to safeguard the interests of consumers and ensure a stable supply of essential commodities at fair prices.
