Seven cases concerning Tripura were successfully settled at the Special Lok Adalat organised by the Supreme Court on Sunday, marking the conclusion of a three-day initiative aimed at facilitating the speedy disposal of pending cases from across the country.

According to Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) Member Secretary Pratim Debbarma, 181 cases from Tripura were listed before a four-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. Among these, seven cases involving land acquisition disputes related to ONGC were amicably resolved.

The proceedings were conducted through video conferencing, allowing the parties concerned to appear before the Supreme Court from the District and Sessions Court premises in Agartala.

Debbarma said Advocate Joy Kishan Saha appeared on behalf of the petitioners from Tripura, while Advocate Saurav Kumar Lal represented ONGC in all seven matters that were disposed of.

Several officials, including TSLSA Deputy Secretary Rajarshi Chakraborty, West District Legal Services Authority District Secretary Ramanuj Bhattacharjee and Judicial Officer Sauptik Ghosh, were present during the proceedings at the Agartala court complex.

The Supreme Court conducted the Special Lok Adalat from August 21 to August 23 with the objective of promoting speedy and amicable settlement of pending cases. The initiative provided litigants with an alternative and accessible mechanism for resolving disputes while helping reduce the burden of prolonged litigation on the courts.
